Early Beginnings Child Development Center is
an independent, non-denominational Christian Organization that has had a School-Age Program in our community since 2005. Our preschool program is located on our campus on Rozzelles Ferry Road. Our school-age program leases space from Jackson Day School on their 1209 Little Rock Rd. campus. EBCDC is an outside community organization and not affiliated with the Jackson Day School organization.
The Upper Room (U.R.) is a new initiative to provide High School students a space outside of their school day to question, learn, and be accepted in a community of faith, and learn about God, themselves, others, and how those three things go together in their daily lives.
The U.R. is led by EBCDC Staff and Leaders
Your 26/27 EB Leaders
Mr. Tom Mr. Dent
Rev. Tom Winstead Gary Dent
Mr. Tom is an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA) and Director of Christian Education at EBCDC, and Mr. Dent is a pastor in the Methodist Church.

What we do in The U.R.
The U.R. is a time and space to discuss practical questions youth have about who you are, following Jesus, peer pressure, emotions, decision-making, prayer, unhealthy influences, forgiveness, purpose, service, and living as a Christian at school, at home, online, and with friends. By being in the U.R., the goal is for you to KNOW → GROW → SERVE → LEAD
The U.R. meets once a week on Thursdays right after the end of the school day. There are also occasional outings in place of the meeting to do activities together or share a meal. As the U.R. grows over the year, a strong emphasis will be placed on service and outreach, with the goal of a domestic or international mission trip in the summer to end the year.(more info about that later)
The 45-minute gathering takes place in the loft (or, upper room) of the MPR
on the JDS campus and typically involves:
The Gathering: Welcome and snacks (and group games or activities)
The Setting: Praise music and Opening Prayers
The Meal: Bible Discussion and exploration
The Charge: Learning how to apply the discussion to your daily life
The Sending: Closing Prayers
Curious about the significance of the name, "The Upper Room"?
Do a little research and tell us what you found out at our next meeting.
Group Summer Mission Trip:
*** Preliminary plans are to have an international Mission trip to Mexico this summer that will involve staying within a local community, leading a Vacation Bible School for local children, and working on a church construction site. Attendance at a percentage of upper room meetings, as well as 4 to 6 pre-trip preparation meetings, will be required to go on the mission trip. More information will be put out as this new youth group takes shape and gets going over the next few months.
