About Early Beginnings CDC & Mountain Island Day School
Early Beginnings CDC is the fruition of a long term vision to bring quality education and Christ-centered care to the people in our immediate area.
This vision began with the founding of Early Beginnings Child Development Center in 2003 by Tom and Tammy Winstead. The Preschool Center opened in 2005 and in our years of operation we have become a five star facility ranking seven out of seven in education. At the preschool we have an extensive pre-kindergarten program that encompasses literacy, math, science, arts, music, writing, computers, Spanish and communication. Having spent years caring and teaching our preschool children it is our desire to carry the same standard of education and love into the elementary, middle school and high school levels. Since Mountain Island day opened in 2009 it has more than quadrupled in size and sucessfully encompases grades TK-11th grade (2016/2017).
Tammy and Tom Winstead, the executive officers and founders of the board, have three children of their own and years of working with kids both professionally and vocationally in the church. Tom is an ordained evangelist in the PC (USA). With their exposure in the way that God works in and through people they believe that raising a child involves more than simple education. We strive to train up children in a way that nurtures them spiritually, physically, mentally and emotionally. All aspects of life and learning need to be incorporated in a quality education. Students at MID are not only learning in a class but living in a community, one that includes the family as well as the child.
The assurance that the goals of Early Beginnings and Mountain Island Day are God's calling on the Winstead's lives brings forth a passion and a joy that can be felt in themselves as well as in their staff and the kids at our school.
